Swayze said that in the year since his diagnosis, he had defied the statistics and "trash magazines" that predicted he should have "already been dead a long time," but he acknowledged that time may be running out.
I can't say that I'm a huge Patrick Swayze fan, but I've seen a number of his movies. I also have nothing but respect for anyone battling cancer. I'll admit that when I first heard that he had cancer that I also believed that he wouldn't survive this long, and I'm very glad that I was wrong.
The first movie that I saw him in was Red Dawn (great movie). The way that the teenagers stood up for what they believed in and fought back against the invasion was inspiring to my preteen existence, although now it is frightening to think about how easy it would be for everything to fall apart into a war like that.
I still like Roadhouse and end up watching it whenever I catch it on TV. Next of Kin was okay. Point Break was really good, especially how Reeves's character is tempted by Swayze's to step away from doing the right thing. I also liked Three Wishes, but I don't remember it ever being in the theaters around here. And I'll admit that I sorta like Ghost -- mainly for the ghostly abilities part, a little for the pottery wheel scene, and not so much for the Demi Moore-Whoopie Goldberg scene.
