Vista is the New Coke

So when I was a fairly young lad, I used to love Coca-Cola. It was my drink of choice, the beverage of champions, and pretty much what I drank all the time. Along came some horrible idea to change the flavor and release New Coke. Yuck! It was nastiness with a lid.

Horribly discouraged, I moved on to greener pastures. At first I tried RC Cola. Not bad, but not good enough either. Dr. Pepper. Ho hum. The licorice after-taste wasn't for me. Finally, I tried Pepsi. Ahhhh, the nectar of the gods. And I haven't looked back since.

So... the analogy between Vista and New Coke really struck a cord with me. Sure, I'd like to like Vista, but I just can't bring myself to use it. Microsoft has released figures showing how many Vista-installed PCs that have been sold, but everytime I hear those figures I end up wondering how many of those users end up immediately wiping the system and putting XP on it.
