Wrong Icon Displaying for Text Files

I had this problem before with icons not displaying properly and had tried everything to straighten it out. A friend asked if I had tried using the restore feature under Folder Options -> File Types -> (find the proper file extention) .txt in my case. There's the option to "Restore" the original program associated with it, which you want. When you go into the properties for that extension again, there's an advanced option available where you can change the icon associated with that file type.
