Scream 4

Rumors of a fourth installment of the Scream series are apparently true. How will the latest flick live up to the original Scream? Probably about as well as the last couple. What's that mean? Well, the first Scream movie was a hoot. It managed to poke fun at all the traditional horror movies with the rules of things that you didn't do in a horror film. The best part of the movie was that it wasn't some supernatural killer -- it actually turned out to be a couple of idiot guys.

Don't Mess with the Zohan

My wife and I saw "Don't Mess with the Zohan" over the weekend. Like most Adam Sandler movies, it received some bad reviews (although some of the film critics seem to coming around).

Let me say right off the bat that the best Sandler movie in my book is "The Waterboy". After that I'm torn between "Happy Gilmore" and "Mr. Deeds". With that said, this movie didn't knock Waterboy off the top of the list.

It was pretty good with lots of laughs. Plenty of crude jokes, and I wondered how the movie got away with some of the jokes and references. Pretty much what you'd expect from an Adam Sandler flick.

What didn't I like? They made Zohan out to be just too powerful. He breezed through all of the encounters, which I guess was supposed to be a part of the joke. It wouldn't have been too bad if someone had been close to being his equal, but I never had the feeling that anyone could stop him in a confrontation.

Our movie theater had notice up stating something like "even though this movie is rated PG-13, in our opinion it should be rated R". As an adult, I don't really agree with that, but as a parent I do.

Iron Man

Let me just say, "Great Movie!" Don't worry; I'll try not to ruin anything by giving out any spoilers.

I love the humor and the way that Downey brought Stark to life. He never seems to take himself too seriously and often pokes fun at himself. I really wish that the Spiderman movies would have had a similar feel to them (sure, there were some funny parts there, but Spidey doesn't really snap off one-line zingers like he did in the comics... just a bit too serious). Anyway, for the first movie in what is sure to be a serious, it's a great start.

Ok, so I do have one complaint about Iron Man. Why couldn't the ending have been just a bit bigger? Granted that the way it works out with the final fight, it does make sense.
