Neil Gaiman - Home <-- Follow the linke to Neil Gaiman's site to be able to read his book "American Gods" for free. Free you say! He held a poll to see which of his works he would give away for free to help celebrate the 7th birthday of his site. Hurry though, it will only be up during the month of March.
I'll probably read the book, but I'll probably check the shelves. I spend way too much time on the computer as it is, and I rather enjoy reading an actual book. Which (oh no) leads to the Kindle. Maybe the Kindle won't be so bad as a book substitute, but to me the feel and smell of a book has always been part of the experience of reading.
Just random stuff. Thoughts, notions, and other stray things that creep into my head during the day. Interesting things that happen in the library.

Harry Potter
I resisted reading Harry Potter for quite a while -- which is odd since I work in a library. I finally read the first book at the end of 2006 before book 7 came out. I ended up reading all of them in short order. People say all sorts of things about Ms. Rowling's writing skills, but they were certainly engaging stories. The only thing that stood out that I did not like was all the wandering they do in the last book. Compared to the way everything else worked out, it really drug along.
So today I was digging around in J.K. Rowling's site, and I found a somewhat hidden list of some of the main characters and the children they had later on. Not a huge find, but it was pretty neat in my opinion. There's some sort of hidden code there too, but I haven't sorted it out yet.
